P. Davis, Untitled, 1998

It is the first Italian exhibition of Peter Davis who belongs to the young generation of “process painting” artists: they search for all kind of possibilities using material painting, without symbolic or conceptual meanings. He uses blazed industrial paints putting and removing multiple layers. His works are characterized by full textures of colors. He applies a fast base of painting over a 18mm dense surface and, once dry, he applies a second treatment on surface which is then removed by a metal foil similar to that used to clean the glasses: this is the first image created. The surface where he works is overfill and polished again and again until reaching the desired balance.
