Rec Mode is a three years project sponsored by the Art Academy of Rome and conceived by Cecilia Casorati, Donatella Landi and Luca Valerio, teachers at the same Art Academy of Rome. Other prestigious International Art Academies take part in the project. In 2004 Valentina Moncada Gallery hosted a Festival for the best video artists from the Italian Academies, establishing an International award that gave the winner the opportunity to have a solo exhibition in the gallery. The purpose was to develop the comparison between the most important European Academies and to link the students with the real art world. For this first edition the project involved: the Hochschüle für Künste of Brema, the Universität für Angewandte Kunst of Vienna, the Vysoká skola vy´tvarny´ch umení of Bratislava and the Vysoká skola umeölecko-pruæmyslová of Praga. Valentina Moncada Gallery hosts the video-festival and the award ceremony to honor the winner designed by an International jury composed by: Dobrila Denegri, indipendent curator and art critic; Nicoletta Fiorucci, private collector; Jochen Kuhn, artist; Valentina Moncada, gallerist; Luigi Ontani, artist; Michael Polsinelli Associate Editor of Flash Art International; Maria Rosa Sossai, indipendent curator and art critic; Massimiliano Tonelli, editorial director of Exibart. La video-festival Rec Mode is presented also at the Open Gallery in Bratislava from the 3rd until the 31st of July 2008.
