Lecture hold by Valentina Moncada at the Spanish Academy in Rome

The lecture intents to examine the story of the via Margutta spanish community of artists and their role in Rome from the early Nineteen Century. Valentina Moncada analyzes in particular those spanish artists who rent studios in via Margutta working there, like the brothers Josè and Mariano Benlliure, Josè Gallegos, Vincente March, Salvador Sanchez Barbudo, Mariano Barbasan - just to cite some of them- and the great Master of the early Twenty Century Pablo Picasso. Furthermore the lecture delves all the main themes dealt by the artists in the course of their roman journey and the role of influent artist Mariano Fortuny, regular attainder of the International Artistic Association while it had seat in via Margutta 53.
